I didn't get that recording done due to Rene's interface being a PC only interface (who does that?) but that just gives me more time to figure out exactly what I want to happen. I only have the middle of the song written and ideas for the beginning end - excellent ideas though they may be, are still ideas. I have one more long shot to try for my interface and then after that I'm just going to go buy a new one. A bigger one. A rack mounted one.*
Last night a friend of mine was playing at a play or something. I think the idea is that the play takes place in downtown Fort Worth and the whole time all of the players keep talking about this show that they're going to and when the show is over and everyone exits (wait for it) A BAND IS PLAYING! I actually walked up to the play as they were loading out :( sad times. However, I did join the guys for their post show drink which was at Pappacito's because they're all my mom. It was terrible, I kept telling them all that I wasn't dating anyone at the moment and would tell them when I was, they kept asking when I was going to go back to school full time and quit it with this "part time shit*"
Yeah that's pretty much it. Oh, and this:

<lj-embed id="13" />

*My my I've got big plans.
**That's really really how my mom talks.

I wasn't sleeping very well this morning, I was in the middle of a waking nightmare that was keeping me from getting any real rest so I decided to get up and diagram the nightmares away.
So far I've deduced that the only equipment that I need is a power amp and that's for practice purposes only, hopefully I can borrow one from one of the many actual musicians that I know. If not I can always buy one (I will probably end up buying one). Sadly my main necessities are non musical. It's a positive that the few things that I need are a small card table, a foldable bench, and keyboard stand, right? Yes. I need to get my DD5 fixed too. I suppose that I don't *need* to have it fixed but I'd like to be able to wander to an instrument freely without having to unplug any pedals and take them with me.
Sorry about the boring post with all of the run on sentences.

I also think that I will accept an offer of a free late lunch that I got from my landlord. Nice. The guy that I'm recording knows that I'm going to be late and is still going to pay me, what a dummy. Or a nice person. Same/Diff.
Here's a bloc party song that I remixed this morning when I couldn't sleep. If you don't like bloc party then you won't like this remix. I obviously like bloc party. <lj:music>REGGAETON!!!!!!!!!!</lj:music>

I've gone through most of the recipes in the one cook book that I have, it covers an extensive list of foods but I think that I've exhausted everything inside and would like to try something new. I'm thinking of trying out a raw food diet for a while but I have two major worries:

1. I don't like beets and there are a lot of beets in all of the raw food recipes that I've been looking up.
2. I'm really bad at rolling seaweed. I'm just awful at it.

I know that seaweed and beets aren't the only ingredients in raw food (obviously) but they're the funniest words that I could find. Unless you count sentences like "2 medium green zuccini, as thick (fat) and straight as possible."
If you aren't giggling at that sentence then you're probably an octogenarian or a black and white movie.

Here are some reasons that I'm pumped about attempting a raw food diet:
1.soups
2.salads
3.i'll get to use my blender more than i do ever (rarely)
4.eating fruit in public
5.getting to say "oh i only eat raw food."
6.funny names like "lava soup" and "cool slaw"

I'm not sure how I'm going to work all of my drinking into the raw food schedule but I guess that I'll figure something out.

    <lj:music>kaki king - dreaming of revenge</lj:music>

I found out today that the small label that was going to release a mini cd that I've been hyping for about five months would not be releasing the aforementioned mini cd. WEAK!!!
I understand that the economy is no good right now and that money is tight, I really do get that, but I also worked really hard to get those songs and artwork ready for the label and now to hear that my cd is going to be pushed back almost an entire year (if not more) is incredibly annoying. I looked into how much the cost of releasing a limited run of mini cds and it really isn't that much, it's more than a pack of socks but it's not so much that a cd should have to be pushed back until next April. At the moment I'm waiting on a quote from a company that presses small runs of albums so I can compare that with the cost of making the eps myself on mini cdrs and getting the artwork done at kinkos. Either way it's not really a big deal, I'm pretty sure that Records Of The Abyss was just going to do the latter.
I was planning on releasing a nice looking LP late this year or early 2010 so I suppose that this can be considered practice.
I need someone to handle all of this junk for me.

    <lj:music>Ready To Die - Notorious BIG</lj:music>

I've been listening to "Ready To Die" by Notorious BIG all day and I can't get enough of it, how good is this album? Every song on the record totally works. "Gimmie The Loot" and "Machine Gun Funk" are both over full minute songs about shooting and killing people on the street for their money, what mainstream hip hop has done something so bold in the last five years? I guess that Lil Wayne mentions that he has a glock in a song but the aforementioned "MGF" thoroughly details how to rob someone. It's so good.
I'm waiting on a quote from a cd duplication company about packaging for the mini cds that Records Of The Abyss was supposed to release but I haven't heard from them and I've been offered a cd release show and I can't really have a show without a cd so I guess that I'll just pay for the mini cds myself.

    <lj:music>Stars Of The Lid - Dungtitled (In A Major)</lj:music>

I haven't really done much today other than watch Rock Of Love, try to record a new old song that didn't really work out, get some of my recycling together and try to email possible future bands members. I've been looking for a clarinet player but I found a drummer who takes initiative, I know this because he emailed me about a post that was asking about clarinet players. The more the merrier I guess. I got a new issue of tape-op in (which I had mailed to me via my MIND) so I think I'll read that until it's time for more Rock Of Love and then sleep. Unless more initiative taking musicians email me.

I'm getting all of my stuff ready to drive down to Austin today for some and maybe music, but probably a lot of walking around. Truthfully I am mainly excited about seeing my mom's friend Sonja who'd letting me sleep at her house. YAY! When I was young Sonja would always fly into town and take my mom off for a night of drinking and my dad hated it. My dad was an asshole so I loved it. Sonja was also hilarious. I love sassy older women with a passion. Love em. Maybe I'll be one some day. I'm packing a back pack full of extra shirts and a couple of books, hopefully I'll be so busy with noisy bands I won't have any time to read them.

I am quite pleased with myself, Pop Gun Radio just played two(!) of my songs on their show. yay for me! I'm pretty sure that no one else really cares about my Massachusetts radio debut but I'm siked(sic).
Tomorrow I'm opening the store and working for eight or so hours and then I might drive to McKinney (an hour and some change away) to buy a large diaphragm microphone that I would like very much that I found on craigslst, but maybe I won't due to being a lazy bones. I probably will.

This next week is going to be a hectic one, opening tomorrow, MANSIONS/partying with MANSIONS on tuesday, sxsw on wednesday(?) - saturday. I still need to find a place to sleep.

    <lj:music>Rad Wolf mixes</lj:music>

I'm finding it mighty useful to keep busy with businessy type stuff. Today I bought a small desktop desk for holding receipts, envelopes and buttons to ship out with orders (I have a lot of buttons) and now I'm trying to clean up my recording space so I can have a place to put it. I've finished a few more songs that started out as one thing and now they're beginning to form something else all together, it's kind of exciting but I doubt that it matters much. I'm happy with some of the new sounds that I'm finding and I hope that I can find a few more. I'm finishing up an epic song that I'm really ready to be done with, I like where it went (accidentally) but I'll be relieved when I feel like I can walk away from it smiling. I'm listening to a mix that I did just now and I think that I know what needs to be done but I'm not sure how to do it, the end of the song is really really nice. When you hear it you must promise me that you'll wear headphones.

<lj:music>Love Has Led Us Astray - Common Existence</lj:music>

I've lived in Texas for 23 years and I have friends of different ages, sexes, economic upbringings, sexuality, and political beliefs; I've never been shocked to find out that some one has a different opinion than I do (although I feel that I am preternaturally imbued with the correct opinion) and I like to think that on most issues I'm fairly laid back. By 'most' I mean everything but Animal and LGBT Rights as they are two areas where America and the world at large seem to completely want to ignore. I can see that a lot of people are too ignorant to see that the taste of the steak that they love is really nothing but seasoning and marinade and has little to do with the muscle that's cut off of the murdered bovine carcass and then fried in it's own blood (along with aforementioned seasonings) - YUM! I get that people don't want to put aside their own personal pleasures to feast on the flesh of something beautiful and alive. Sure, it's your right as a human to deem what lives and dies, gotcha.
ANYWAY
My main beef* at the moment is with my conservative friends that feel the need to take to their facebooks moments after Sean Penn's acceptance speech and bash him for being hateful. Really? Was he being hateful when he called for equal rights among all men and women from all walks of life? How dare that hate monger suggest such a thing. Sean Penn is almost as hateful as Dan White. How can people that are so intelligent be so moronic? What really frightens me is that some of these people are in school to become teachers and professors, how can one shape the minds of a young person when theirs is as thick as a rock? I'm so confused as to how in 2009 some one can be so afraid of letting a group of people have the same rights that so many people all over this planet have and squander. I, for one, never plan on getting married, I think that the whole thing is a joke. But if Brent and Travis decide that they want to get married and move into a nice house together then why can't they do that? What's the big fucking deal? And what's the problem with stating that fact? How is that hateful? Why are we still discussing this?

I'm all for having an intelligent discussion amongst friends about the differences in their beliefs, but taking to the airwaves to condemn someone for hoping for a better tomorrow is just disgusting. Who needs enemies when I have friends like these?

*pun intended
